Today, the children in Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a visit from the acclaimed author and illustrator, Thomas Taylor. Thomas is the author of the amazing ‘Eerie-on-the- Sea’ mysteries. During his talk, Thomas talked about how objects which he has found on his local beach have inspired his creativity, for example a piece of sea glass became a mermaid’s tear. Thomas also shared some of his illustrations with us, demonstrating how to turn a scribble into an amazing sea creature. Thomas also shared with us that his first professional job was to illustrate the front cover of the very first Harry Potter book. This impressed us all! Many of our pupils purchased their own copy of one of Thomas’ books which he kindly signed. Thank you to Urmston Bookshop for organising this super event. It was truly inspiring.
