Meet our Language Leaders
Modern Foreign Language Leaders French continues to flourish as the new Language Ambassadors take on their
roles of promoting the use of French within their classroom and across the school. In every class in Key Stage 2,
each one of the Language Leaders takes on a different role in encouraging the development of the knowledge, skills and understanding of the French language and French culture.
Some children demonstrate daily pockets of language, thereby encouraging other children to follow suit, for example: answering the register in French; giving their team points in French; saying general greetings, please and thank you in French between everyone in the class; showing (or teaching) their class teacher a traditional finger rhyme/song that they have been practising in their French lessons; singing Happy Birthday in French with some of the older Language Leaders telling their teacher the date of their birthday in French as well!
Other children talk about cross-curricular links that they have made in their French lessons, for example: English (word classes), Maths (times tables) History (the history of France for Year 6 pupils), Art (famous French artists) or Geography (different French places that they have been studying in their French lessons).
Some Language Leaders are also responsible for taking care of the French reading books (both fiction and non- fiction) in their classrooms, ensuring that they are regularly explored and read by all the children in their class. Whilst, other Language Leaders take on the responsibility of directing the children's attention to the French phonic displays within their classroom and displaying the French dates in their classroom each day. They notice the day and/or date in French with some of the older children telling their teacher and the class what that is in French!
Merci beaucoup tout le monde!
